Some kids will dive feet-first into something new like it's a bag of giant marshmallows. Others want a guarantee they'll be great at it before they'll even consider starting. And most of us, at some point, when something we've made hasn't turned out perfectly, have felt really bummed and wanted to chuck it in the bin.

It's a new collaboration between Noisy Book Club and One of Six, bringing together the growth mindset work we do every week at NBC with proper textiles craft. We get many requests to run our workshops at the weekend, and we are answering those calls!

A personalised pillow, from scratch

Over four Saturdays at the One of Six cabin, kids make a personalised pillow from scratch. October's club is under way, so you can join its last two Saturdays, or do the full four from 21 November.

🌿

Dye

Dyeing fabric with natural materials.

🪡

Embroider

Adding their own design with embroidery.

🧵

Sew

Learning to sew it together on the machines.

Along the way, we'll explore what it actually feels like to get something wrong, the stories we tell ourselves when we do, and how that self-talk shapes what we do next. Because sometimes it's the going-wrong-bit that becomes the beginning of it going right.

Even the wonky stitches stay in. They tell the journey!

See it in action

Bendy confidence is the heart of Saturday Morning Club: what we do when something goes wrong, and how we pick ourselves up and carry on.

Only want some of the days? 📒

Blocks are booked together, but if you'd only like certain days, pop your name on the waiting list. A few days before each workshop, if there are still places, we offer single days to people on this list. It's rare and last minute, but it does happen.

Curious? We love that 🤔

When and where is it?+

There are two blocks to book: the last two Saturdays of the October club (17 and 24 October) and four more Saturdays (21 and 28 November, 5 and 12 December). All 10am to 12pm at the One of Six cabin, 259A High Street, London E17.

What will my child make?+

Over the four Saturdays, children make a personalised pillow from scratch: dyeing fabric with natural materials, embroidering their own design, then sewing it together on the machines. In the last two Saturdays, they sew a pillow on the machines and learn to embroider and embellish. The four Saturdays from 21 November are the full pillow project, start to finish.

Who is it for?+

Children aged 5 to 11, especially those who worry about getting things wrong. We talk about what it feels like when something doesn't go to plan, and the wonky stitches stay in.

Can we come for just one Saturday?+

Each block is booked together. If you'd only like certain days, join the single-days waiting list on this page and, if there are places left a few days before, we'll be in touch.

How much is it, and is there a sibling discount?+

The last two October Saturdays are £80 (£40 a session) and the four Saturdays from 21 November are £168 (£42 a session). The 2nd and 3rd child each get 5% off, and you can book up to three in one go.

Can we book both blocks?+

Yes. Book the last two October Saturdays, the four Saturdays from 21 November, or both.

How do I pay, and is it secure?+

Payment is taken securely online by card. Your place is confirmed the moment you pay, and a confirmation email with all the details lands straight in your inbox.

What happens after I book?+

You'll be whisked to a short form to tell us all about your child: allergies, emergency contacts, photo consent and the important bits. Completing it finalises their enrolment.

What's your refund policy?+

Booking holds a spot, so we can't always offer a straight refund. If something changes, get in touch as early as you can. First, we'll try to move you to another date or club, or offer a credit. If you'd prefer a refund, we'll happily give one once the place is filled, either by you finding a replacement or by us re-selling it from the waiting list, minus a 10% admin fee that covers card-processing and administration costs. If we can't fill the place, we're not able to refund it. We'll always be reasonable about genuine emergencies.

Are your staff DBS-checked? (Safeguarding)+

Yes, all our staff are fully DBS-checked, so your child is in safe, caring hands. Want to know more about who's leading the adventure and the thinking behind Noisy Book Club?
