Hey
Did you know the clocks don't change when you're near the equator? It makes sense when I actually think about it, but still, that was my fun fact I learnt this week! Though we're missing it this Spring, when those clocks spring forward on the last Sunday of March, I swear I feel it - not just in the bedtime chaos (oh hello, 9pm stories 😅), but in my mood, my energy, my outlook.
Something shifts.
It reminds me that I move with the seasons. I'm not a machine. Winter is heavy. It’s slower, darker, more about getting through the day. But Spring? Spring is lighter. It makes me want to go out there and do things! To say 'see ya!' to survival mode and ask…

It doesn’t always have to be a full reset. It doesn’t have to be a big, perfect overhaul.
It just has to be a beginning. One step. One shift. One brick at a time.

Let’s talk about the power of one small shift.
I see so many parents stuck in this feeling of 'I want to do more for my child’s mindset, but there’s just no time, no calm moment to start.'
But consider this: what if the transformation doesn’t happen in grand gestures? What if it happens in tiny things?
Like:
Taking a breath before responding to a mistake
Replacing 'You’re so clever' with 'You really stuck with that'
Saying 'It’s OK to find this tricky' instead of 'You’re fine'
These moments seem small. But they create a whole new dynamic over time. You don’t need a full plan, you just need a spark. One phrase. One mindset moment. That’s enough to start rewiring the story in your home.
If it feels overwhelming, think of it like laying bricks. You’re not building the whole house overnight, just one small brick at a time. One new way of speaking. One pause. That’s how foundations are built.
Seems a bit more doable, right?

What Do You Do With a Problem?
Kobi Yamada (Author) Mae Besom (Illustrator)
(Compendium)
The story follows a young child who is followed by a dark, mysterious 'problem' that grows bigger the more it’s avoided. At first, they run from it, hide from it, wish it would go away - but eventually, they face it and discover that inside every problem is an opportunity waiting to be uncovered.
Perfect for sparking conversations about:
Facing challenges instead of avoiding them
Building emotional resilience
Seeing problems as something we can learn and grow through
This beautifully illustrated book encourages children (and adults!) to sit with discomfort, get curious about it, and find the lesson hidden inside. A brilliant mindset book to keep revisiting as you both grow.

This week’s mindset nudge is all about learning from mistakes - but not in a vague, 'just reflect on it' kind of way.
Because here’s the thing: I often say to parents, 'Look for the learning in mistakes' - but when you're sleep-deprived or just trying to get out the door, that can feel... vague. Or just hard to think of on the spot.
So I made something to help: a free printable full of real-life mistakes and what they can teach us and our kids. From lost library books to spilled paint and burnt toast - these are ordinary moments that can really help change our mindsets if we come at them differently.

Pop it on the fridge. Have a read. Get thinking. Ask yourselves: 'What could we learn from that?'
Just one moment. One conversation. One brick. 🧱 That’s all it takes to start building something really powerful.
Have a lovely weekend when it comes! If you're starting Easter holidays tomorrow, have a lovely one of those too.
